BOODSKAP VAN DIE PRESIDENT

Uit die gereelde nuusbriewe van die takke en die notules van takvergaderings, is dit baie duidelik dat die komitees steeds baie hard werk om die huidige omstandighede te oorkom en gereeld hul kompetisies aan te bied. Dit is goed om te sien hoe takke die inisiatief neem om geleenthede binne die raamwerk van die “Covid-19 protokol” te reël om oor grense te speel en sodoende steeds die SAGES kameraderie te bevorder.

 

  

Die bydrae van elke lid van die NBK in hierdie nuusbrief bevestig ook die reuse bydrae wat elkeen van hulle lewer om die gladde werkverrigting van die organisasie te bewerkskstellig. Ons is ook dankbaar vir Elfie se beterskap en wens hom volkome herstel toe.

Dit is dan ook met leedwese dat ons die sluiting van die Laer Suidkustak moet aankondig. Die huidige pandemie met gepaardgaande risikos vir seniors het ‘n totale ineenstorting van ledetalle veroorsaak die sluiting was onvermydelik. Ons wil graag hulde bring aan al die lede en komitees wat oor baie jare getrou diens gedoen het aan hierdie tak.

Ons sien daarna uit om u weer persoonlike te ontmoet en vertrou dat die geleentheid hom spoedig sal voordoen. Hartelike en warm SAGES groete en bly veilig.

 

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

 

From the regular newsletters of the branches and the minutes of branch meetings, it is very clear that the committees are still working very hard to overcome the current circumstances and to present their competitions. It is encouraging to see how branches are taking the initiative to arrange opportunities within the framework of the “Covid-19 protocol” to play across borders and thus still promote SAGES camaraderie regularly. The contribution of each member of the NMC in this newsletter also confirms the huge contribution that each of them makes to the smooth performance of the organization. We are also grateful for Elfie's recovery and wish him a healthy future.

On a sad note, we regret to announce the closure of the Lower South Coast branch. The current pandemic with associated risks for seniors has caused a total collapse of membership numbers and the closure was inevitable. We would like to pay tribute to all the members and committees who have faithfully served this branch over many years.

We look forward to meeting you in person again and trust that the opportunity will arise soon. Warm SAGES greetings and please stay safe.

MESSAGE FROM THE VICE-PRESIDENT

 

My previous letter being a member of the NMC management team, we as SAGE golfers were still uncertain about how we can go about our business. We were like “peeping Toms”, but now we have reached the stage where we can take out our dancing shoes and dance……. I meant taking out our golfing shoes and SWING, and still adhere to the Covid protocol. I have attended a few monthly branch games and witnessed a positive attitude.

Therefore, I salute all the committee members, on behalf of the NMC, who so selfishly serve their Branches, and make it possible for members to play golf in a safe environment.

1. CANSA
One of SAGES’s major beneficiaries CANSA, is also having a major concern with fundraising. The wider impact of COVID is also inevitable in the loss of sponsorship and is reflected in the following figures:
“During 2019 the total CANSA contributions by branches was R 694 248 compared to R417 760 in 2020, which is 39.8% lower. Many branches did not host a CANCA day during the COVID pandemic lockdown stages, which was understandable.”

A SAGES CANSA SCHEDULE FOR 2021 HAS BEEN DRAWN UP AND THE CHALLENGE FOR US IS TO AT LEAST IMPROVE THE 2020 CONTRIBUTION BY 10%

2. Newsletters 2020/2021
Thank you to the Branches who still diligently submit their newsletter. It is a communication platform where we can keep in touch with one other. Next year we can step it up by re-introducing the Newsletter competition again.
My 38-year-old son and wife were tested positive, and his requested that I and Elsa my wife be: “serious, and please adhere to the prescribed protocol.”

SAGES greeting from me and please wear your mask, sanitize and maintain safe social distancing.

 

BOODSKAP VANAF DIE VISE-PRESIDENT

 

Tydens die vorige skrywe was die SAGES gemeenskap baie onseker oor hoe daar te werk moes gaan sodat ons kon funksioneer. Die onsekerheid is minder en ons kan nou ons “dansskoene”aantrek…..verskoning - ons gholfskoene aantrek en die heupe op die bowwe laat swaai

Ek het ‘n paar takke se maandelikse speldae bygewoon en ‘n baie positiewe gees is ondervind.

Groot waardering en ‘n woord van dank , namens die NBK, aan al die komiteelede wat onbaatsugtig werk om ‘n veilige omgewing vir hulle lede skep om te kan speel.

1. KANSA
KANSA aan wie SAGES groot bydraes gemaak het, was onder groot druk met betrekking tot fondse. Die wyer impak van COVID en die verlies aan borgskappe word gereflekteer in die volgende syfers:
“Gedurende 2019 was die totale KANSA bydrae deur takke R 694 248 in vergelyking met R417 760, in 2020, wat 38.9% minder is. Verskeie takke het as gevolg van COVID , nie KANSA gholfdae aanbied nie ,en uit ‘n veiligheidsoogpunt was dit die korrekte besluit.”

DIE 2021 SKEDULE VIR DIE KANSA GHOLFDAE IS OPGESTEL EN DIE UITDAGINGS VIR ONS, IS OM TEN MINSTE 10% TE VERBETER OP 2020 SE OPBRENGS.

‘n Versoek is vroeér gerig om NBK lede te nooi na die onderskeie tak KANSA gholf dae. Martin kan genooi word na die Kaap streek se dae, terwyl Elfie, Eddie en ek na die ander streke se gholfdae genooi kan word.

2. NUUSBRIEWE 2020/2021
Baie dankie aan die takke wat ywerig steeds hul nuusbrief indien. Dit is 'n kommunikasiemedium waar ons kontak met mekaar kan hou. Volgende jaar kan ons die kompetisie weer hervat, en sodoende die kwaliteit verhoog

Ten Slotte
In my gesin, het my 38-jarige seun en sy vrou positief getoets, en sy versoek aan my en Elsa was: 'Dit is ernstig, hou asseblief by die voorgeskrewe protokol.'

SAGES groete van my, en 'n versoek om u masker te dra, te ontsmet, en veilige sosiale afstand te handhaaf.

FROM THE DESK OF THE TREASURER

 

I would like to give feedback on the following financial matters:

1. Subscriptions paid to National Management Committee.
To date 24 branches have paid their subscriptions to the NMC (4 branches still outstanding and one branch unfortunately closing).
The new billing system worked well despite several last-minute changes to the branch members lists resulting in the adjustment of original invoices issued to branches.
The second phase of the changes to the subscription payment procedure has been approved in writing by 24 branches (+- 85%) and will be implemented from the 1st of May 2021.
We would like to thank the branches for their positive response. Once fully implemented, it will result in less but more effective administration.

2. Submitting financial statements to the National Management Committee.

Annually branches submit approved financial statements to the NMC. A consolidated version of the financials is sent to SARS to support our Tax status.
Currently we have received financials from 27 branches. However, on 4 branches we still have balancing issues.
In my previous communication I mentioned that future planning includes the standardization of financial statements across all the Sages Branches. After this first round of consolidations of financial statements, it became quite evident that we really need to standardize the financials.

 

VANAF DIE TESOURIER SE LESSENAAR (UIT DIE TESOURIER SE PEN)

 

Ek wil graag terugvoer gee oor die volgende finansiIële aangeleenthede:

1. Heffings betaalbaar aan die Nasionale Uitvoerende Komitee.
Huidiglik het 24 takke hulle jaarlikse heffings aan die NUK oorbetaal. (4 takke nog uitstaande en een tak gaan ongelukkig sluit).

Die nuwe fakturering stelsel het baie goed gewerk ten spyte van laaste minuut wysigings aan tak lede lyste wat veroorsaak het dat verskeie fakture aangepas moes word.
Die tweede fase van die wysiging van die betaling van heffings aan die NUK is skriftelik deur 24 takke (+- 85%) goedgekeur en sal vanaf 1 Mei 2021 geimplementeer word.
Ons wil graag die takke bedank vir hulle positiewe terugvoer. Wanneer die nuwe prosedure ten volle geimplementeer is, sal dit lei tot minder maar meer effektiewe administrasie.

2. Indien van Finansiële state.
Jaarlliks verskaf takke hulle goedgekeurde finansiële state aan die NUK. ń Gekonsolideerde weergawe van al die takke se state word aan die Nasionale Inkomstediens gestuur ter ondersteuning van ons belastingstatus by die Inkomstediens.
Huidiglik het ons opgawes van 27 takke ontvang – op 4 takke se ingediende state ondervind ons nog balanseringsprobleme.
In my vorige kommunikasie het ek gemeld dat een van ons toekomstige oogmerke is om die finansiële state van SAGES takke te standardiseer. Na my eerste ronde van konsolidasie het dit baie duidelik geword dat ons dringend aandag aan hierdie standaardiserings proses sal moet gee.

MESSAGE FROM THE DESK OF THE SECRETARY

 

The covid pandemic has really dampened the spirit amongst our members resulting in reduced attendance at the scheduled monthly games. The branches members register on the website has been kept up to date enabling Eddie Mantle our National Treasurer to issue invoices for the branch’s annual subscriptions. The members register must be kept up to date at all times as it will be linked to other programs to extract the relevant members information, for example National and Regional tournaments, players HNA number, age etc.
The system will automatically send your members details to the branch executives every month, i.e., Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary. The system will be changed to permit the branches to do their own membership amendments electronically, thereby saving a tremendous amount of admin for the Secretaries. These amendments will be validated by me before the registers are updated.

Our annual National Executive Committee AGM meeting was not held due to the cancelling of the National tournament and the enforcing of a moratorium on branch AGM meetings. We have certain documentation that needs approval that is normally done at the AGM, so I will be circulating it to the branches for their attention and approval. There are suggested changes to the Constitution and Operations manual together with changes to our financial system and criteria for certain awards.

Please respond urgently to these mails when you receive them.

 

VANAF DIE SEKRETARIS SE LESSENAAR

 

Die Covid pandemie het `n negatiewe gees tussen ons lede versprei, en die maandelikse bywoning syfers aangedaan. Die lede register op ons webblad is op datum gehou en ons Nasionale tesourier kon fakture uitreik  vir die uitstaandse leded geld. Dit is belangrik dat die lede register op datum gehou word, want hierdie inligting word benodihg vir verskei ander programme, bv die Nasionale en Streek kompetisies.
Die rekenaar  stelsel sal elke maand automaties `n lede register uitstuur aan die bestuur van die takke, nl Voorsitter, Tesourier en Sekretaris. Ons beplan om die takke in die toekoms toelaat om hul eie veranderings aan te bring.
Aangesien ons nie die vorige twee jare `n algeneme jaar vergadering kon gehou het nie a.g.v Covid, is daar sekere dokumentasie wat die takke se toestemming nodig het om die voorgestelde veranderings aan te bring. Wanneer hulle uitgestuur word, `n spoedige antwoord is nodig asseblief.
Veranderings aan die Grondwet, Bedryfshandleiding en finansies stelsel gaan toegepas word.
